About ADAL
The Alzheimer's Disease Association of Lesotho was founded with a simple yet profound mission: to ensure no family faces dementia alone in our beautiful kingdom.
Our Mission & Vision
Our Mission
To provide comprehensive support, education, and advocacy for individuals living with dementia and their families throughout Lesotho. We work to reduce stigma, increase awareness, and build a network of care that honors the dignity and worth of every person affected by dementia.
Our Vision
A Lesotho where every person affected by dementia receives compassionate care, where families have access to the resources they need, and where communities embrace and support those living with memory-related conditions with understanding and respect.
Our Journey
From humble beginnings to a nationwide network of support, here's how ADAL has grown to serve the dementia community across Lesotho.
Foundation
ADAL was established by a group of healthcare professionals, caregivers, and community leaders who recognized the urgent need for dementia support in Lesotho.
First Support Groups
Launched our first support groups in Maseru and Berea, providing safe spaces for families to share experiences and receive guidance.
Healthcare Partnerships
Formed strategic partnerships with healthcare facilities across Lesotho to improve dementia diagnosis and care coordination.
Educational Programs
Developed comprehensive training programs for caregivers and launched our first awareness campaigns in rural communities.
Resource Development
Created culturally appropriate educational materials in Sesotho and English, making resources accessible to all Basotho families.
National Expansion
Expanded our reach to all 10 districts of Lesotho, establishing support networks in every corner of our kingdom.
Innovation & Growth
Launching new digital resources and preparing for our largest support group initiative, facilitated by trained social workers.
Our Values
These core values guide everything we do at ADAL, from our daily interactions with families to our long-term strategic planning for dementia care in Lesotho.
Compassion
We approach every family with empathy, understanding that each journey with dementia is unique and deserving of individualized support.
Community
We believe in the power of community support and work to create networks where no one faces dementia alone.
Education
Knowledge empowers families to provide better care. We are committed to making education accessible to all Basotho.
Dignity
Every person living with dementia deserves to maintain their dignity and be treated with respect throughout their journey.
Cultural Sensitivity
We honor Basotho traditions and integrate cultural values into our support services and educational materials.
